3Rivers Initiative for Economic Freedom

A proposal for a sustainable community economy for the betterment of all.

What is this?

Where do we go from here?

Where do we go from here?

It’s an initiative to give Fort Wayne and Allen County an unfettered economy, free of the burdens imposed by dependence on a remote, centrally-regulated currency.

It’s about taking control of our business and our lives.

It’s about free and fair trade.

It’s about (re)building a healthy community. It’s about getting together, working together, supporting each other.

The key to understanding the whole problem and along with it the solution to the problem is to know that money is only credit. What we usually call money, i.e. the paper currency, is not money but a credit instrument, an i.o.u. There is no law against anyone issuing a credit instrument. People who write checks do this every day. Businesses who issue coupons are also issuing their own form of currency. There *is* a law against making a *counterfeit* of a credit instrument and only the government is allowed to mint coins. Other than this, everyone can issue credit to anyone who is willing to enter into an agreement. A centralized, controlled currency divorces a human from the local environment and removes them from the responsibility towards their neighbors and fellows. A local currency, the more local the better, marries the person to his/her responsibility, life, surrounding and potential.
